Yes, beyond importing transactions Boonzi also allows you to insert transactions manually really fast.

To insert a transaction, on the “Transactions” screen click “New Transaction” next to the top right corner or press “Ctrl + N” for the keyboard shortcut.

Payee

As you type, Boonzi will try to auto-complete with one of the previous inserted entities to save you time. If none is found, a new one will be created.

Date

When inserting dates, on the date input, you don’t have to write the full date:

  • If you write only the number of the date, Boonzi will automatically fill in the rest with the current month and year.
  • You can also write today, yesterday, etc.
  • Other date formats are also allowed, like 2 May.

Category

If you have previously chosen an payee, Boonzi will try to automatically fill the category, based on that payee, saving you time. Otherwise you can chose one of the existing categories or create a new one.

If you want to insert a sub-category and/or category, you can see this article

Multiple categories

Sometimes you may need to categorize a transaction with multiple categories. Example: When you go to a gas station to fill up the tank but also end up buying a newspaper. The payee could be “BP” and the categories “Transportation:car” but also “Others:Newspaper”. To do this you just have to click on “+Split category”.

Notes

You can leave text reminders here. They are searchable, making it easier for you to find transactions. Example: If you have transactions that are deductible in the IRS you can write “IRS” in the notes field and later when you need to get all transactions relevant for the IRS you just need to type “IRS” in the search box.

Files

You can attach files to a transaction. To do so, simply drag and drop the file, or files you want to attach to the files box. The files will be stored in a folder that will be created in the same folder as your profile file, sorted by date.

Form navigation

You can go back and forth the form fields using the mouse or keyboard by pressing the “TAB” key or “SHIFT+TAB”. At any moment you can use the“Ctrl+S” to save the transaction or “ESC” to cancel.
